Ensconced Movement
Joshua Watts, 2000 - 2003

This series began as a set of monotypes in the Spring of 2000 and were in progress until February of 2003. They travelled with me from Illinois across the U.S. to California, then up the Alcan highway to Alaska and back again. (These are easily the most well-travelled pieces I have ever created.) Due to the extended length of time from start to finish, these works encapsulate an entire period of my life and reflect my artistic growth during that time. Each has been through many stages and evolved along with my aesthetic sense, which has gone through rapid changes since beginning to travel in 2000.
